Sefer Mekor Chaim

This Sefer does not merely teach Hilchos Shabbos but details the Mesora and process of Halacha. There are many excellent contemporary works that teach what one may or may not do on Shabbos. This Sefer explores why this is the Halacha; how it developed over millennia. The reader is encouraged to study through the Sugya rather than just read the conclusion, and to read through the Mareh Mekomos, sources, themselves.

Many of the works of the greatest Rishonim and Acharonim are deemed to be inaccessible for all but the greatest Talmidei Chachamim. By extracting some of the relevant snippets, the Sefer presents the words of R’ Akiva Eiger, R’ Moshe Feinstein, R’ Ovadia Yosef and so many other Gedolim in an accessible format, all with Nikud.

I have learned much from my teachers, and even more from my colleagues, but from my students I have learned most of all. (Taanis 7a)

R' Yehuda Leib Lewis

You have clearly invested many years in producing this work which examines practical aspects of the Shabbos laws in the English language to enable English readers to understand and appreciate these laws in a clear and simple way. This will thereby enhance their knowledge, understanding and observance of the Shabbos laws. Additionally, you have provided Hebrew sources which will enable the interested student to study these laws in greater depth and to examine the background and rationale of the rulings in this Sefer.
